CCR

Working on this project was harder than I thought there were up and downs to it as well as moments that felt impossible.  This project challenged me as a director and media studies student, throughout everything I learned it felt as if there was more to add to it.

The genre of Reggaeton is starting to grow among people at first it only was listened to in South American but now one can see people in the U.S. listening to this type of genre of music.  Before it was even listened in South America reggaeton was not a music genre widely known, people thought it was vulgar since it contains topics such as drugs, sex, and violence this genre challenges the way reggaeton music videos are commonly shot. This means setting and the mise-en-scene, most reggaeton music videos go over the top with setting and mise-en-scene.

The common things seen are a cool sports car, a huge crew, a specific setting, and different costume design throughout the video my music video does the opposite of all that. Originally the music video was supposed to have all the main items a reggaeton music video has, but the plan changed rather than having the elements that any reggaeton music video had I thought it would be good to switch things up and because it is on a budget having over the top items were not much of an option. So, what I changed was the focus on the setting and the artist. Rather than stay in one specific location for all the music video, we moved locations that were more isolated to bring focus to the artist and the setting only. Rather than have a huge crew we focused on the promotional part of the artist only.

The focus was to have the audience connect with the artist one on one rather than see all these people around him or have a setting that overpowers him. I wanted to create a connection between artist and audience in which it is only him being himself singing to his song, this did not seem easy at first, trying to find a way for the audience to engage with the artist as well as form a connection was hard. There is one thing that connected him to his audience and it was his music which was not only written in Spanish but also in English allowing both a Hispanic and English audience to listen to his music. The audience that is targeted is teens, creating a connection with this audience was done through social media. The post on the album's Instagram allows the audience to get an inside look at the artist's life and his process of album making. On Instagram I filmed an interview with Loiro, this gives the audience an inside look at his thought process on the album, and his single 305 the audience can engage and have a personal feel of what he wanted his album to represent.

Loiro’s music shows how reggaeton is not only about drugs and violence but also about topics such as romance and things one likes. The music video along with the social media shows that Loiro is a free spirit artist who just wants to have fun making music, his songs and new album are all about things he loves and having fun with his crew making music. Trying to match a music video with the energy he gives up in his music was the challenging part, his music was about the affection of a girl and having feelings for her, at first I thought and planned a storyline for the music video but listening to the song and seeing that it was his first single coming out I chose to make it promotional, the single will be the opening to the album as a way to present it so the audience can look forward to more music just like it.

Loiro’s music might not show the problems in Latin America but it shows the good parts of the music coming from Latin America, the parts most people don’t see which is the strong topics such as love and singing about things people like. Reggaeton music is used a form for artist to express themselves which is what this album is about.  Which is also what his Instagram expresses him expressing his passion for music and becoming an artist.

Loiro’s brand was not very explanatory at the beginning with all his music, yet at the same time while listening to his album tracks and his single I’ve realized that the brand is about music that others can enjoy and have fun with, his form of reggaeton is not about drugs or violence but rather about some romantic songs and the fun of making the album. The setting is what shows his branding, the outside filming and the scenery is just him having fun filming around his surroundings and showing the fun he is having with his music. Creating the digipak was also a challenge trying to make it the same theme and idea of the album. Creating a brand of Loiro so his audience can look forward to his new album and have an idea of what its all about.

The music video also relies on old film editing, without giving out too much the album itself would feel like listening to a radio station I wanted to match that theme and make the music video somewhat like that. I used an old VHS filter for the intro of the music video and certain parts add to that old look, relaying on editing was a big part of my project, wanted to at least measure up to other reggaeton music videos.

this project has been a challenge but not impossible, I’ve was able to research about reggaeton and apply it to the project allowing the audience to connect with the artist and create a brand of himself as a reggaeton artist presenting his new album and music to look forward too.

DigiPak

Hey Guys!!!

So here is my Digipak for the project, for those of you who don't know a Digipak is similar to a CD cover but a bit more environmentally friendly. I will be showing you my front and back fo the DigiPak and the inside as well as what the disk would look like

PhotoShoot!!

 Hey Guys!!!

Soooooo..

we actually had a pretty cool photo shoot for Loiro in order to promote the 305 music Video as well as show his fire fit for the music video. I thought this photo shoot would be a pretty cool way for fans to connect more with him as a person. I am stoke to show you the pics so here they are

Here are some of my fave pics from the photoshoot I find this a great way for fans to connect with the artist and get to know this serious and goofy side to him, Loiro is not always serious in fact he acts like a clown most of the time and it was pretty hard to get him to be serious but we managed it and this is a part not many see of him, he is very talented and hardworking. These pics were taking on all of our locations for the music video near the hard rock guitar hotel. I have a meeting with Loiro on Monday to choose which pics will be put on Instagram and which ones will be used for different use. Let me know which ones you guys like the best?

Soooooo... We have an issue

 Hey guys!

So, I wanted to post some clips of the filming here because I had done some edits on it. Unfortunately, I lost all the footage what do I mean by this? well here is the story

I was editing and usually, I put everything on a separate hard drive because my computer tends to break on me and loses files, so while I was editing I had to go out for a few minutes which ended up being hours. I thought that nothing would go wrong since my files were uploading to the hard drive and that where the problems began. I came back to the notice that there's a bug on my computer which forced a restart and shutdown completely once it stopped restarting I could not find any information or file on my computer and I mean EVERYTHING! not even school files. I thought it had safe to my hard drive but unfortunately, it did not. I did not, nowhere is where the problems truly began, I looked for my sd card to redownload the files thinking it would be no problem but how wrong I was, turns out that I can't find my SD card. No matter where I look for it it's nowhere to be found which makes no sense since I put it back inside its case

This is what my case looks like, as of two hours ago I just got told that by accident my parents took it and accidentally erased all my data on it, which is mostly my fault because I put it on the side, I divide my card by the ones that are full to the empty ones, seems like I put it on the wrong side of the case which made my parents think that it was empty and it was my fault that I didn't check which one they used so I am going to have to film again which makes me extremely upset.

Unfurtuanly these things do happen and I can't do much about it, I already did my crying and vented my frustration hours ago now I just got to move on. I was really looking forward to showing it but things happen so I will be refilling this week and weekends and using a different computer for editing so I can avoid this problem. it might be time to also get a new computer so yeah

Social Media

 Hey guys!

So, as part of my project is the Social media component, after a lot of thinking I decided to use Instagram as the social media to promote the music video as well as promote the album. Insta is an app that everyone uses especially teens which the audience we want to reach. By using Insta we can reach a wider audience by adding the post of the behind-the-scenes as well as continuously promote the album and giving a sneak peek of the new song that is first being released.

The structure:

The structure that I want to show for the page is to create the Instagram profile the name of the album that he is releasing, as well as linking his Spotify, Apple Music, and his Instagram Profile. The first thing I want to post is pictures of him in his "home studio" creating the song, the next day following with a sneak peek of the album cover with an explanation of the art behind the album cover. I also want the Artist himself to create a video promoting and releasing the release dates for the album and the single.

One of the things that is essential is a small trailer of the behind the scenes which allows the followers to see the process behind his work and that this is something he is clearly passionate about.

Then pictures of the photoshoot, throughout Instagram will be him talking and promoting his music video.

This is just a small structure I want to do for Social Media which allows me to have an idea of how it would look

Lets Talk Equipment

 Hey Guys!

I wanted to give you a little idea of what equipment we are using to film our music video, I am using a camera, my phone, and a few tripods.

Camera:

The camera I have is from the brand Olympus, this camera films in 4k which makes it great for filming the music video, it focuses really well and the quality is obviously amazing. This is the camera I will be using for the music video as well as for the photoshoot we will be having which I will make a post about that.

This is the look of the camera it is very vintage in my opinion but works wonders in fact I used this camera for my latest youtube video and I loved how it turned out

Phone:
I though I do have a camera my phone takes huge part in the process of the music video, I will be using it to film a behind-the-scenes, which will be its own post. But I wanted you guys to have a look of the process of this music video, which I believe it creates a connection to the artist and how he is.
I have an iPhone 11, which has a good quality for the filming and I also use it to listen to the song and edit.

Tripods:
Using tripods will allow for the filming to be more steady, I have three different tripods: A big one foe the camera, a Hand one, and a medium one

The one I have looks almost like this

This the other tripods

This the small tripods that I will be using for my phone while filming behind the scenes

Filming set

 Hey guyss!!

So I already started filming and before I show you some of the behind the scene I wanted to first talk about the place we are filming. As mentioned before the genre of my Artist is reggeaton so I wanted a place that gave of the vibes of a reggaeton music video. Usually, those places are in a cool setting where it has cool light-up buildings and s beautiful scenery I wanted to imitate that, since I live in Florida there really aren't that many places that caught my attention especially when we are in a pandemic and there's a budget. I did eventually find a place, the Hard Rock Guitar is one of the places that has brought the teen interest in fact many Teens have gone there to take really cute and cool pictures so we chose this place, I think it fits the first song released and the vibe that I'm trying to have the artist portray.

Since the lights change every day I thought it would be super cool filming here as a background

Not only that but we are using a sports car as a form of prob, since most reggaeton music videos show some kind of sports car we decided to go with that groove and use one ourselves, we are still figuring out bringing others to be in the music video but since we are in a pandemic we are doing what we can.

Part of the setting is the time we are filming, so some shots will be filmed during the day and some at sunset and at night to catch the cool effect of the time change as the music video is being filmed since we are in a new Daylight saving it allows us to stay till late filming which honestly helps a lot cause we can always refilm.

I really hope you guys are looking forward to it I know I am so I'll see you guys on my next post!

STUCK!

 Hey guys!

So, here is the thing I've been doing some research about music videos and I have pretty much an idea of how the music video should go but the location is not the best since Miami is very busy especially at night so I would have to change it and since Spring Break is here that means that it's going to be packed so I'm stuck on places I could film I do have one place that might work. But I am not sure about it I would have to talk to Loiro about it but I was thinking of filming around the parking lot of the Hard Rock Guitar I feel that scenery would be really good for the music video so I will talk to Loiro and keep you guys updated.

Group Meetings

 Hey guys!

We had group meetings on Wednesday the 17th which seriously helped a lot with the process of my music production. I showed the newest logos to my group which I will show you in a bit and had them choose between different logos. These meetings were really helpful because I was able to get some feedback and give my progress to my classmates. I actually got some music video ideas that help me  with creating my own music video. I got feedback on the logo, and how I should approach the project.

this is the logo I'm going with I just have to fix the title so it's more visible and I talked with Loiro and he likes it but I will make a second logo just in case he changes his mind

That was all for today's post see ya next time

FONTS!!

 hello guys!

so the last post I showed you the logo design I was working on, now I want to show you some of the fonts I was thinking of using I wanted it to be something that fits with the look of the logo so here are some options.

these are a few options that I thought would be best for the font to represent the artist I am still not sure about it but hopefully, I choose one that fits the best

xoxo

-Paola

Creating the logo

 Hey guys!

I started working on the logo for Loiro and he doesn't have a logo at all so I got so excited to create it, let me tell you that it was not easy. thinking of what kind of logo I want to represent him made it even harder, I wanted something that represents his music and him as an artist. his albums and EP's are usually dark-colored but the songs are upbeat and Loiro is a very upbeat person so I wanted to make a logo that matched that vibe. Unfortunately, it took me a few days but I do think I know what logo fits him the most. so his artist name "Loiro means blonde in Portuguese and that just happens to be the color he likes so I decided to make a logo that matched with his name.

Before I show you the logo I want to show you the process of making it, I used procreate and Canva to make his logo. In procreate, I sketched the design for the logo it took a long time but I got it in the end.

Withing procreate I decided to use the template of a rose as part of the main logo, procreate is an app for others to sketch their art, I love this app and it helped me so so much when creating a logo. The part that I dreaded the most was the rose template because it was hard to sketch it out. I decided to go with a neon theme for the logo to make it stand out.

I used the monoline brush to sketch the rose design on a black background.

I then duplicated the design three times once it was already sketched

I then locked all my pics and filled them with the colors I was going to use

I then used a blur tool for the layers to make them brighter

This is what the layers look like

and this is how the final product looks like

let me tell you I am super proud of this, I feel that the neon color bring the look together when it comes to Loiro

I then headed to canva and added his name.

I will be showing you on the next post the logos I had in mind so I hope you are looking forward to it

LOGO!!!

 Hiiii Guysss!!!!!!!

so I've been working on some logos for Loiro since he didn't have one and before I showed it to you (Which is going to be on my next post) I wanted to talk about the different logos I got inspiration from. Logos are very important for an artist since it's the way they are identified, some of the artists I got inspired from are J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Ozuna, and Sech.

Bad Bunny:

Bad Bunny's logo is inspired by his name a Bunny this logo is used for a lot of things one of them was the drop of his crocs
the logo is simple yet cute and a lot of fans identify him this way.

J Balvin:
J Balvin's logo is from his newest album "Colores'' his style is vibrant as once can see from the logo. it is also a way his fans identify him

this is it for today's for today's post in my next post I will be showing you the process of how I made the logo and the different logo's I have

Reggeaton

Reggaeton

The Reggaeton genre was originated in Panama and became popular in Puerto Rico. Now, Reggaeton is accepted globally within other places. This genre is a mix of hip-hop as well as Caribbean music, one would say that the sound of Reggaeton is very similar to Spanish reggae, it wasn't until the 1990s that it became popular. The start of Reggaeton was dominated by male artists now female artists can be seen within this genre. Some popular Reggaeton artists include Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Karol G, Yandel, and Daddy Yankee.

Reggaeton was not popular at all and it was only seen in informal venues and some channels, most people referred to this genre as "underground" music. The first-ever reggaeton is 'riddims' by DJ Playero and DJ Nelson, this song became highly successful because it was a combination of hip-hop music and Latin American music.  This music genre was an unknown outlet in which young artists could express themselves. this genre of music expresses topics such as drugs, poverty, sex, violence, and love some songs with these topics include 'Siente el Boom,' 'Verano Azul' and 'NI BIEN NI MAL' this genre was very popular among the youth yet just like any music it received a lot of criticism. Now, Reggaeton is a genre listened to by a lot of people the most popular artist rising is Bad Bunny with his newest single 'Dakiti' which received 53.2 million views.

(Bad Bunny)

Reggaeton has helped open up the Latino culture within other countries, it has also helped bring awareness to the state of Latin America. bringing up topics of how people live in these countries, reggaeton has shaped the culture in other countries such as the United States and Africa. As mentioned before, reggaeton is a combination of hip-hop and Latin music, and just like hip-hop music its lyrics contain hooks that repeat throughout the song a majority of reggaeton music include rapping that is combined with singing some songs are even song in Spanish and English known as 'Spanglish.' The great thing about reggaeton music is that it borrows sounds form different music genres but still has it's own and unique sound.  The beat of reggaeton music is usually fast and uses drum beats as well as keyboards. One thing that is not talked about that often is that reggaeton music allows Latinos to express themselves and brings acknowledgment to the racial issues Latinos go through.

Karol G, Anuel AA, Daddy Yankee, Ozuna

Karol G
Carolina Giraldo Navarro also known as Karol G is one of the Latin women who sings songs withing the Reggaeton genre. Karol G is from Colombia, her music is mostly Reggaeton and Latin Trap but she has also worked with different music styles.  Some of her hits are 'Ay, Dios Mio' 'Mi Cama' and 'Ahora Me Llama' Karol G has also sang along with artist such as Cardi B, Anuel AA, and Mambo Kingz

Ozuna

Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado also known as Ozuna is a popular Regageton singer from Puerto Rico, his music style and composition are a form to encourage people to follow their dreams and tries to avoid prophanity in his music. Some of his hits are from his two albums 'Odisea' and 'Aura' he has also sang some songs along with artists such as Wisin, Chris Jeday, De la ghetto, and Annuel.

hey guys I hope you liked today's post I wanted to teach you more about Reggaeton and give you more information on it. See you next post!
